The Mississauga Business Enterprise Centre (MBEC) wrapped their Small Business Month celebrations with their final session of their Digital Marketing Seminar Series. These seminars were a way of helping businesses strategically develop their online marketing plans and maximize their business online. The last seminar of the series, ‘How to Use LinkedIn to Boost Your Business & Personal Brand,’ was held on October 25, 2016 and delivered by the President of EMpression: A Marketing Services Company, Javed S. Khan.
LinkedIn is amongst the popular social media platforms of today’s digital age. LinkedIn is used to build a community online through connections. This seminar was dedicated to showcase the powerful platform that LinkedIn offers. The following ‘Six Secrets’ were unveiled by Javed at last week’s seminar, to help maximize online presence through LinkedIn:
1. Post relevant content
Similar to the conversation on social media platforms previously discussed in the seminars, LinkedIn should be no exception to the 80/20 rule; where 20% is promotional content and the rest is content helpful to your audience.
2. Stand Out
Make your LinkedIn profile stand-out! Be sure to fill out as many of the sections as possible to allow LinkedIn’s algorithm to favour your profile.
3. Include calls to action
Be sure to direct your audience to the landing page that you want them to visit. This landing page should be the only page they need to click on.
4. Be strategic when joining LinkedIn groups
Take the time to get to know your groups and the members of the groups to determine which group is the best for you to join or target.
5. Use the “Advance Search” function to find prospects
The “Advance Search” is one of LinkedIn’s strongest, yet least used function; strategically and effortlessly search for groups, members, and even jobs.
6. Publish Content
Use this platform to publish blogs. Blogs are a great way to reach a greater audience.
