Canada-Ontario Job Grant  

Employment and Social Development Canada/Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development

Maximum of two-thirds of training costs/person or $10,000; Employer contribution of one-third of total costs  

Available to employers who wish to purchase training for existing and new employees.

Canada-Ontario Job Grant: Customized Training

Maximum of two-thirds of training costs/person or $10,000; Employer contribution of one-third of total costs

Pilot program to assist in the development and delivery of firm-specific training solutions that meet employers’ workforce development needs, where no such training exists.

Hire an Apprentice

Apprenticeship Completion Employer Bonus

Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development

$1,000 taxable cash grant

Available for each apprentice employed and trained who completes their apprenticeship, receives a Certificate of Apprenticeship and where, applicable, a Certificate of Qualification.

Apprenticeship Employer Signing Bonus

$2,000 signing bonus

Available to employers who hire, register, and train an apprentice as part of their participation in the Employment Service program.

Apprenticeship Job Creation Tax Credit

Non-refundable tax credit: 10% of eligible salaries and wages, maximum of $2,000/year/apprenticeship

Available to employers who hire a registered apprentice working in a prescribed trade in the first two years of their apprenticeship contract.

Apprenticeship Training Tax Credit

Refundable tax credit: 25%-30% of eligible expenditures, maximum of $5,000/year/apprenticeship

Available to employers who hire and train apprentices in certain skilled trades during the first 36 months of an apprenticeship program.

Hire Youth

Canada Summer Jobs  

Employment and Social Development Canada

Maximum of 50% of employee minimum hourly rate for summer hire (ages 15-30) returning to school in the fall  

Available to employers to create summer job community service opportunities for students.

Career Focus Local and Regional Projects

Employment and Social Development Canada

Maximum of 80% of eligible costs; Cash or in-kind contributions of a minimum of 20% of total project casts must be provided through sources other than the Government of Canada

Funding for employers and organizations to design and deliver a range of activities that enable youth to make more informed career decisions and develop their skills.

Colleges Applied Research & Development Fund – College Strategic Sector/ Cluster /Technology Platform Program

Colleges Ontario, Ontario Centres of Excellence and the Ministry of Research, Innovation and Science

Matching funding of up to $1 million to support elegible research and development costs

Funding to support industry-college projects to address sector or cross-sector-wide research and development challenges, align with college Strategic Mandates and enhance the capability of companies.

Colleges Applied Research & Development Fund – College Voucher For Technology Adoption

10,000 vouchers up to a maximum of $250,000 to support eligible research and development costs

Connects companies with the expertise and resources available at Ontario colleges to identify and solve their business and innovation challenges.

Colleges Applied Research & Development Fund – College Voucher for Innovation and Productivity I

Colleges Ontario, Ontario Centres of Excellence and the Ministry of Research, Innovation and Science

Matching funding of up to 50% of eligible research and development costs to a maximum of $20,000

Helps Ontario companies develop, implement and commercialize technical innovations by supporting industry-college collaborations up to 12 months in duration.

Colleges Applied Research & Development Fund – College Voucher for Innovation and Productivity II

Colleges Ontario, Ontario Centres of Excellence and the Ministry of Research, Innovation and Science

Matching funding of up to 50% of eligible research and development costs to a maximum of $150,000 over two years

Helps Ontario companies develop, implement and commercialize technical innovations by supporting industry-college collaborations between 12 to 24 months in duration.

College and Community Innovation Program – Applied Research and Development Grants

Available to companies undertaking applied research and development projects with college researchers.

Engage Grant

Maximum funding of $25,000

Matching funding for projects valued between $20,000 to $100,000

TalentEdge Internship Program

$10,000 funding for a four-month internship valued at $20,000

Support to access college/university students and recent Masters graduates to work on industry-driven research and development projects.

TalentEdge Fellowship Program  

Ontario Centres of Excellence

$35,000 funding for a twelve-month fellowship valued at $85,000  

Support to access PhD graduated and post-doctoral fellows to work on industry-driven research and development projects.
