The Province of Ontario recognizes agri-food companies that have helped strengthen the province’s economy through increased exports of Ontario manufactured foods to new international markets.
This year’s winner of the Food Export Award was Conestoga Meat Packers based out of Kitchener, Ontario for their global marketing strategy. Not far behind was finalist, Mississauga-based Super-Pufft Snacks Corporation, a private-label manufacturer of popcorn, potato chips, extruded snacks and canister crisps. Super-Pufft now exports to more than 30 countries across five continents. Established in 1987, the company continues to launch new products and has recently increased its exports to additional retailers in North America, South America, Algeria, South Korea, and Australia.
The company’s international business now represents well over two million cases in sales and represents almost 70 per cent of its 20 million canisters crisps manufactured each year. By early 2017, Super-Pufft is expecting to reach over $75 million in sales, with exports representing more than 50 per cent of its total business.
