I would like to welcome Walter Garrison to the City of Mississauga’s in his new role as Advanced Manufacturing Business Integrator in the Economic Development Office (EDO).
Reporting to the Manager of Sector Development and Economic Partnerships, Bonnie Brown, Walter will provide leadership and support in developing and implementing initiatives that will achieve and advance Mississauga’s Advanced Manufacturing sector growth and innovation.
This new position was developed in support of the City’s Economic Development Master Plan that outlines the importance of creating additional resources to support Mississauga’s advanced manufacturing sector. By creating an environment that encourages industry connections, builds and grows local supply chains, and creates opportunities for continued innovation and collaboration, an advanced manufacturing cluster will be fostered and strengthened.
This position will seek to improve productivity, further innovation, and expand export markets for businesses in several verticals including aerospace, automotive, food and beverage, and clean technologies.

Prior to joining the City of Mississauga, Garrison commissioned and supervised the operation of a rapid prototyping facility at Medicine Hat College and worked with several industry sectors and numerous companies in the iteration of new products utilizing 3D printing and laser scanning technologies. He served as the producer and technical consultant behind the Industry Canada-Emily Carr University of Art+Design documentary “Will the Revolution be 3D Printed?.” He worked as Manager, Industry Liaison and Business Development in the Office of Research and Innovation at George Brown College. His manufacturing experience includes positions in operations and quality control in the beverage alcohol industry and in research and development in the agri-food sector. Garrison holds Bachelor of Physical and Education and Bachelor of Education degrees from the University of Toronto, a Masters in Environmental Studies degree from York University, a Certificate in Oenology and Viticulture from Brock University, and a Project Management Certificate from Mount Royal University.
