In 2015, Mississauga surpassed the $1 billion mark for total building permits issued for the second consecutive year since 2008. This figure increased between 2015 and 2014; in 2014 3,806 building permits valued at approximately $1.1 billion were issued while in 2015 3,845 building permits were issued valued at over $1.2 billion.
Mississauga ushered in a new year of continuous growth. Nearly half of building activity in 2015 was related to industrial and commercial development indicating increased investment leading to job and economic growth. Local building activity growth is occurring in conjunction with other economic growth indicators, such as employment and population growth.
