Located in Mississauga, the Toronto Pearson International airport introduced Automated Passport Control (APC), a self-serve kiosk technology installed in airports that allows passport holders to electronically complete a portion of the primary inspection process. Currently, these kiosks are available for Canadian and U.S passport holders travelling through Toronto Pearson airport to the U.S.A. The APC decreases wait times on average of thirty-six percent in airports that use this technology.
Toronto Pearson will make 40 kiosks available throughout terminals 1 and 3, catering to approximately five million U.S and Canadian passport holders annually. The kiosks are designed to be easy to use and require no additional fee or preregistration.
