Increasingly, businesses in the City of Mississauga and throughout the GTA are committed to greening their operations. Through Partners in Project Green, many are discovering opportunities to collaborate on sustainability initiatives and share best practices with other like-minded organizations.
Initiated by the Greater Toronto Airports Authority and Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, Partners in Project Green is a large and growing community of organizations dedicated to creating the largest eco-business zone in the world, with Toronto Pearson International Airport as its hub. Members include businesses, government bodies, institutions and utilities – all sharing the goal of building a stronger and greener local economy.
Partners in Project Green operates on the principle that pooling the ideas, expertise and energies of its community members can lead to innovative green business initiatives with bottom-line impact. The results speak for themselves: In 2014, member organizations collectively reduced their greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 5300 tonnes, achieved over 180 million litres in water footprint offsets, and diverted more than 700 tonnes of waste from landfill.
