Looking for employment this summer?
Be your own boss! Starting a business as a student is one of the best jobs you can have this summer. The Mississauga Business Enterprise Centre (MBEC) offers the Summer Company Program giving students the chance to turn their ideas into business opportunities while developing professional skills. The program is delivered in partnership with the Province of Ontario and provides hands-on coaching, mentoring and financial support to help young entrepreneurs start and operate a summer business. In 2013, the program resulted in the launch of 16 new businesses with a combined 18 new jobs created.
Many different types of companies are started through this program every year. MBEC sees a range of businesses including technology-based, arts and crafts, landscaping, photography, swimming lessons and camps. If you are interested in entering the Summer Company program, submit your application by May 23, 2014. Applications are available online and MBEC can help students with submitting their application. Once accepted into the program, business coaching, training and mentoring can be provided by MBEC.
Please visit the official Summer Company webpage that outlines the complete list of eligibility requirements as well as additional program information.
