Adrian Arnieri has always loved fashion and being creative. Currently a third year student at Ryerson University’s Fashion Design program, Adrian is the national winner of the REMIX Fur Design Contest in 2015. With his skills and accomplishments, Adrian decided to take the next steps and turn his interest in fashion into an entrepreneurial venture.
With the help of the Summer Company program, Adrian started his summer business in Mississauga, Arnieri. Arnieri is a wardrobe styling business for hair and makeup photoshoots. While operating his summer business, Adrian was contracted by Schwarzkopf and styled for their fall/winter campaigns which were featured in American Salon Magazines September issue, Behind the Chair Magazines October issue as well as in Salon Magazines November Issue.
As a participant in the Summer Company program delivered by the Mississauga Business Enterprise Centre, Adrian received business advice, hands-trainings, mentoring and an award of up to $3,000.00 to start his business.
“The Summer Company Program has really given me the tools and skills to continue my business on my own for the following summer. Networking was a major skill that I got to explore and understand even more; this is a huge skill to have when working in the fashion industry. Being able to work with the Summer Company mentors was incredibly helpful when I needed advice or felt as though parts of my company could be improved. I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to participate in this program and expand the knowledge of both business and my own abilities/ talents.”
Adrian is just one example of many young entrepreneurs across Ontario turning their business ideas into reality with support from local business enterprise centres and young entrepreneur programs funded by the Province of Ontario. The Summer Company program helped launch more than 660 student-led businesses in 2013 and over 940 student-led businesses in 2014.
