The International Economic Development Council is celebrating 90 years as an organization, and this week we are celebrating the Economic Development profession. Reflecting back on my ten years as a Client Account Manager with the City of Mississauga, what I can say, is that every day the work that I do makes an impact. There is no better satisfaction to learn of someone who landed a job in a company that I helped attract to our region, and the difference that their employment made to their family. This is what it is really about when you help a company to locate in your region or to assist our local companies gain access to programs, funding and other resources to grow.
During my tenure I have collaborated with site selectors, entrepreneurs, business leaders, realtors, other levels of government and stakeholders. On a daily basis, what this role is really about is solving problems, being creative and coming up with solutions to help businesses address their current challenges and future opportunities.
This is a big feat to be accomplished, and this could not be done without the support of all the professionals at the City of Mississauga. Mississauga has a great team of professionals across all departments who understand the economic importance and significance of our business community.
