The Mississauga Business Enterprise Centre (MBEC) works closely with entrepreneurs to provide them with meaningful business-related information and guidance. One of MBEC’s former clients who has benefited from the support of MBEC is Stella Jurgen of 17 Designs, one of MBEC’s clients from the early 2000’s.
Stella of 17 Designs is a former client and long-time entrepreneur who has been operating her business for the past 18 years. This is no surprise since 17 Designs was created with one goal in mind: “to help businesses succeed.” This has been an important factor in retaining her long-term relationships with her clients. Stella recalls that some of her clients have been with 17 Designs since 2001 – just two years after she started her business.
Since offering services in graphic design and website services, 17 Designs has expanded to include: Aerial photography, Animation, 3D mechanical drawing for manufactures, and much more. Their expansion has led to serving multiple industries within the GTA, Halton, and Peel areas such as the construction industry, the automotive industry, health care, food services and a host of others.
Stella’s success with her business has also led her to many opportunities that include pursuing her love for music! She is part of a jazz band that performs at events and parties, with recent appearances at the Oakville Towne Square. Stella’s busy schedule does not distract her from running her successful business. She has encountered many obstacles in the past such as local competition and more recently overseas competition. Stella says “with hard work, competitive pricing and dependable work ethics we have attracted clients that rely and value our services.”
When asked what trait(s) an entrepreneur should possess, Stella replied saying “there are many traits needed to be a successful entrepreneur.” Since 17 Design’s is a partnership between Stella and her business partner, Norm, she values the different qualities both have to offer. “We make an awesome team that has made our business a success.”
Stella credits her relationship with MBEC during the launch of 17 Designs. Stella says, “MBEC gave us courage and support during a time when we were filled with doubt and anxiety…we always encourage new businesses in Mississauga to seek out MBEC for support and direction.“ 17 Designs’ knowledge and expertise also led them to earn MBEC’s Emerging Business Award in the early 2000’s.
With 18 years behind them, 17 Designs is always improving and quickly adapting to latest trends and technology.
